At Unex, we have been developing solutions that combine safety, durability and reliability for six decades. As specialist manufacturers of insulating cable management systems, our focus is clear: to design robust products for environments where failure is not an option.
In industrial settings, installing cable trays or equipment requires support structures that provide mechanical stability, corrosion resistance and electrical insulation—without compromising ease of assembly. Portal and semi-portal structures serve this purpose: they make it possible to create rigid structural frames, vertical or horizontal, anchored to the floor, ceiling or wall.
For these applications, we have developed the Unex Trut 60® system—a modular solution made from insulating material that enables the construction of robust portal and semi-portal frames with up to three levels of trays on floor, ceiling or wall, without the need for grounding. It is compatible with the Insulating Cable Tray 66 and the Insulating Cable Ladder 67, allowing complete configurations for electrical, telecom or HVAC installations, with long-term reliability.
To show how the system works, this video walks you through the assembly of a two-level portal structure:
Step 1: we cut the Unex Strut channels to the required length.
These can be cut easily using a saw or grinder. No sparks or sharp edges are produced.
Step 2: we connect the Unex Strut channels to the Unex Connectors using screws.
The channel must be drilled beforehand.
Step 3: we join the different sections to create the structure.
This connection is made using Unex Spring Channel Nuts and Unex Bolts with nut.
Step 4: once the portal is assembled, we secure it to the floor.
It is important to use fasteners capable of supporting the entire structure's weight, such as metal anchors.
Step 5: we place the trays and fix them to the portal.
Mounting types of the Unex Trut 60® system
Every project is unique and requires specific solutions. That’s why the Unex Trut 60® system offers several mounting options:
a. Wall mounting
Directly on the wall or using the Unex Strut channel for multi-layer installations.
b. Ceiling mounting
From the ceiling using threaded rod, either for simple installations or for building portals with up to three tray levels, using the Unex Connector and the Unex Strut channel.
c. Floor mounting
Construction of portals from the floor, with up to three tray levels, using the connector and the Unex Strut channel.
d. Mixed mounting
Construction of semi-portals from ceiling or floor to wall, also with up to three tray levels, using the Unex Connector. For vaulted walls, the system includes the Unex Variable strut connector.
These configurations provide flexibility and adaptability to the specific requirements of each project, whether industrial, commercial or residential
Advantages of the Unex Trut 60® system
Insulating material: the Unex Trut 60® system is made of thermoplastic insulating material that eliminates the need for grounding, reduces electrical risks and simplifies installation. This is especially important in environments where safety is a top priority.
Corrosion resistance: the system is highly resistant to corrosion thanks to its composition, making it ideal for outdoor applications and demanding industrial environments. Our customers can trust the durability of Unex Trut 60®, even under harsh conditions.
Mounting versatility: it allows multiple mounting configurations—on walls, ceilings or floors, and at different levels—adapting to the specific needs of each project. This flexibility is one of the system’s most valued features.
Cost optimisation: as a modular system, it enables quick and simple installation, reducing assembly time and costs. Its corrosion resistance and insulating properties also minimise maintenance, avoiding costly corrective work. The result is greater operational efficiency and long-term savings over the life of the installation.
